How to Grow Succulents from Seeds - Planting Succulents

In terms of actually growing succulents, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend growing your succulents from seeds unless you are trying to be experimental. Do a cross between a couple of plants or very rare succulents that you don’t want to spend $40 on per plant. So first, you need your lead pots, and add a coffee filter to the bottom of the draining pot. Then, add pumice and sand. The fine layer of sand is on the very top. Once it’s done then fill them with some water and just let them sit there and it may take 2 to 3 minutes for them to be completely soaked and then just going to take some tape and put them over your pots and then put it on the side.

Take and wet the toothpick to help you pick up the seeds. Just touch the top of the sand enough to get the seed to fall off. Then, gently tap to have the seeds fall into place, and after that cover it with plastic wrap. If the plants are stretched and have a weak base then add some more sand around the bottom.

One thing, I did want to mention is that I kept a plastic-covered laying on top of those to keep it a little bit more humid because my plants were extremely small succulents. If they’re exposed to a bunch of heat, then they’re gonna lose their water really quickly. So, you kind of want to keep it a little bit more on the wet side for them just because they don’t have much water storage. If you just go slowly with it then your seeds don’t move around, otherwise, they’re pretty good at taking up water from the bottom of their pot. So, if you lay them in a dish and then put water in the bottom, they will soak it up but they dry out pretty quickly from the top. You don’t want to pour water directly on top of them because it will move the seeds around.
